Lokee Entertainment Music Festival @ Transit Lounge!
Sunday March 13th, was the first annual Lokee Music Festival and it was a blast.
Rifus. Phil Jacobson Band. Jacob Jeffries. The Big Tasty. Jahfe. Beat Machines. Sounduo. NO COVER. It couldn’t get any better.
The night was a reunion of South Florida musicians supporting each other and celebrating original music. Everywhere you looked, there were people hugging and catching up “Oh my God I haven’t seen you in soooo long!” I guess it’s a good thing when you never see your musician friends: it means we’re all working.
I had an amazing time singing with The Big Tasty and catching some of my favorite bands! It was my first time watching Jacob Jeffries and I have to say: I am a fan! I want more!
I’m glad I was part of an event that brought together the South Florida musician family to party and make some music! So fun- Lets do it again!
Meet: Ketchy Shuby (http://www.ketchyshuby.com/)
They call their sound “downtown soul” and it’s a super funky combination of reggae, soul and blues. Their style has a throwback element reminiscent of 50’s that brings something totally fresh to the Miami music scene. Everyone in the band is great, but Ketchy Shuby’s singer/guitar player, Jason Joshua Hernandez-Rodriguez, stands out: he is probably the best front person in the local band scene. He is passionate and extremely entertaining and he engages the audience with infectious energy and cool moves like falling off the stage with his guitar.
You can listen to some their songs online at http://ketchyshuby.bandcamp.com/album/notimetohate
But really if youre into live music you need to go check out their live show- It’s a party!
Meet: THE LEE BOYS (http://www.leeboys.com/?q=home)
A “sacred steel” band originally from Miami, The Lee Boys have an awesome take on blues and gospel. This quasi jam band plays with tons of energy and passion and they have so much fun on stage, the audience can’t help but join the celebration. These guys prove that bands that love what they do rock the hardest.
