Eat at: The Japanese Market (1412 79th St Causeway, N.Bay Village, Fl 33141)

This place is the greatest of all time. It’s small and has a family feel to it. The owners, cooks and other employees are really nice and it’s just a pleasure to go there and hang out. First off, it’s fun to check out their huge variety of Japanese candy, sauces, noodles and other crazy stuff that you’ve never seen before. They have fridges with sushi grade fish as well as an aisle of Japanese beauty and shower products. The Japanese gummies are my favorite candy there- they are a perfected version of the Gummy Bear with awesome texture and flavor.

Then there’s the Sushi Bar. The food is affordable and delicious and they give you complementary green tea. My favorite rolls are the Crunchy Shrimp and The Beach Roll. The nigiri and the seaweed salad are awesome too. In the spirit of ensuring you have the most enjoyable eating experience possible, the owners enforce one rule: NO CELL PHONES at the sushi bar. They’re serious- they will kick you out… I saw it happen. Also, don’t go there if you’re in a rush- they take their time making your food, but it’s totally worth it. The sushi bar is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Definitely go check it out. Eat. Buy some candy and some siracha. It’s a fun time!
